Combined Clubs in CSIA

Cheongshim International Academy is composed of both high school and middle school. This is considered as one of the biggest advantages of CSIA since it provides students with a wide range of opportunities. A major hallmark is the ability to have numerous ‘combine clubs(중고연계동아리)’  within the school. The term ‘combined’ refers to the collaboration of high schoolers and middle schoolers in a club, and they can benefit from unique opportunities through it.

Students with age differences co-existing in one club can benefit from knowledge fusion. Especially for minors, minute variances and boundaries emerge. Even if their age difference is small, their knowledge structures or frameworks might vary greatly. When students with divergent knowledge and abilities get together and cooperate through club activities, it directly leads to innovative discoveries. Regardless of the type of club, there might be any kind of fusion among respective students in the club. Representatively, ‘RoundSquare’ consists of students from 9th grade, and they work under the motto of IDEALS. Each represents internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership, and service; demonstrating the possibility of confluence in diverse sectors.

Furthermore, developing partnerships between high school and middle school can provide additional opportunities to grow their social communication skills. By having acquaintance with many people, students can develop their particular human interactions and apply social skills to the relationships. Since CSIA also has a dormitory, there are plenty of settings, times, and places for students to communicate with a large number of pupils. ‘또래상담' club can be an example of this strength. This is another typical combined club in CSIA, which concentrates on consulting and communication. They try to approach students psychologically, using activities related to emotional interactions. It well shows that CSIA provides chances for social exchanges among high school and middle school students.

Last but not least, students can meet more people who share their dreams. In terms of size and quantity of members, combined clubs allow students to meet a wider range of students who seek the same things as them. ‘Peace Designer’, for instance, usually performs service or open conferences regarding various topics regularly. Climate change, human rights, and SDGs were the prior themes of the activities.

Like this, high school and middle school combined clubs provide lots of advantages to students. In addition to CSIA clubs, a combined system may benefit students in other greater effective ways. Hope that students will have more opportunities to encounter other graders in great facilities such as the library and cafeteria in CSIA.
