Here, at the Cheongshim International Academy, unique P.E. classes are held. Like any other subject, P.E. lessons are also one of the most essential subjects for realizing Cheongshim’s educational ideology, and it aims to train future leaders by providing distinguished P.E. classes through a systematically internationalized system. The curriculum varies by grade; First and third-grade students take regular P.E. classes, sports club activities, and taekwondo classes, and second-grade students take archery classes in addition to regular P.E. classes, sports club activities, and taekwondo classes.
What do CSIA students do during the sports club class hours? In the sports club class hours, all students in a grade gather together to compete in different sports every week, including dodgeball, basketball, cheerleading, soccer, and more. Moreover, the core is that students independently lead all aspects of running a sports club. Students each take on at least one of several roles, including sports club president and vice president, medical staff, players, coaches, referees, secretaries, scorers, and cheerleaders, and perform their roles during class time, which leads students to experience P.E. activities through a voluntary will. Students can relieve academic strain by participating in sports club activities and basic P.E. classes.
Furthermore, Taekwondo classes are taught all three years at CSIA. Taekwondo classes are held once a week, and after accumulating observation records until December, students are evaluated for Kukkiwon promotion according to their dan(degree) and issued a certificate. Through consistent Taekwondo education, students can expect physical development and mental strength through acquiring regular lifestyle habits and cultivating the spirit of Taekwondo.
Lastly, an archery class can be learned through the regular curriculum for second-grade students and after-school classes for students in all grades. Archery classes are designed so that students can receive systematic, high-quality lessons with professional instructors. Since it is not a sport commonly seen in middle school P.E. lessons, students can experience a diverse P.E. culture and have a nature-friendly sports experience by playing outdoors. And this is also linked to after-school classes. Even if you are not a second-grade student, you can learn archery through after-school classes and even have the opportunity to participate in competitions and have a fruitful experience.
As seen above, the CSIA curriculum currently offers distinctive P.E. lessons for students. Based on a plentiful P.E. curriculum, students can learn healthy P.E. culture and have various experiences.
