School Trip: To Osaka

Students from Cheongshim International Middle School went on a field trip for 4 nights and 5 days at the end of May, from the 27th. The 7th graders went to Jeju Island, the 8th graders to Osaka, and the 9th graders to Singapore. The 8th graders spent 4 nights and 5 days in Osaka, where they all had a great time.

On the first day, they gathered at Incheon International Airport and arrived at Kansai Airport. They had a simple itinerary of having a sushi set menu for dinner and then arrived at their hotel. The students were excited to go on the trip, having just finished their midterm exams. They stayed at the Sheraton Hotel for 4 days.

On the second day, they moved to Arashiyama. Due to a typhoon, it rained heavily. They explored places like Togetsu Bridge, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, Nonomiya Shrine, Tenryu-ji Temple, and Arashiyama Folk Village Street. Although their shoes and clothes got soaked, the rainy scenery in Japan was still beautiful. They had tofu hot pot for lunch and then moved to Kyoto. In Kyoto, a city with a thousand years of history, they visited Kiyomizu-dera, Ninenzaka, and Sannenzaka. Due to the heavy rain, three current students of Doshisha University took a bus tour of the university. They then moved to Osaka and had a shabu-shabu buffet for dinner before returning to the hotel. The heavy rain made the day a bit disappointing and tiring.

On the third day, boys and girls had different schedules. They toured Todai-ji Temple and Nara Deer Park, had lunch, and visited Osaka Castle. After that, they had about three hours of free time in Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori, one of the most anticipated places. The weather was very nice that day, so everyone enjoyed their time and made memorable moments with friends in Dotonbori.

The fourth day was spent entirely at Universal Studios Japan. They entered at 9 AM and returned to the hotel at 6:30 PM. The students had fun riding attractions, eating delicious food, buying souvenirs, and enjoying time with friends. On the last day, they headed straight to Kansai Airport. Although everyone felt unhappy that the trip was over, they were thankful to have had a safe and enjoyable field trip, which would remain a cherished memory.

Yeo-jin Lee, a student from Class 3 of the 8th grade, said in an interview, “Although the

weather conditions were disappointing at times, it was still a meaningful time because I was able to create many memories with my friends.” Hyun-seo Lee, a student from class 1 of 8th grade, commented, “It was a trip to Japan that I will remember for the rest of my life, and it was even more enjoyable because it was a trip with friends, which was different from my usual trip to Japan”.
