On Wednesday, July 26, 2024, the Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris, France. The upcoming Paris Olympics will mark the first time the event has been held in 100 years, dating back to 1924. The Paris Olympics have been held three times in 1900, and 1924, and is scheduled for 2024, with only the British and French Olympic Games currently being held three times. The Paris Olympics are said to feature many special events and are garnering attention and high expectations from people around the world. Before the Paris Olympics begin, let's familiarize ourselves with the unique aspects of the games.

1. Stadium

Multiple iconic landmarks including the Champs-Élysées, a scenic location hosting the Eiffel Tower, the historic Grand Palais erected for the 1900 World Fair, and the prestigious Palace of Versailles, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, will be converted into a splendid stadium setting. Beach volleyball and judo will take place with the Eiffel Tower in the background, while horse riding will be held at the Palace of Versailles, and taekwondo and fencing will be included as well.

2. Eco-Friendly Olympic Games

The 2024 Summer Olympics aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50% for the first time. The goal is to connect with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in six areas: education, health, inclusion, equality, solidarity, and the environment. In an attempt to decrease emissions, they will advocate for space recycling, low-carbon transportation, renewable electricity supply, vegetarian organizations utilizing local seasonal agricultural products, and regulations on plastic usage.

3. Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony, previously held in the main stadium, will now take place outdoors. In 160 boats, every team will journey 6 kilometers along the seine, passing by iconic Paris landmarks like the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay.

For other information, a total of 32 events and 329 detailed events will take place. All medals also contain 18 grams of steel from the Eiffel Tower (which is said to have been smelted during Eiffel Tower elevator maintenance work). If you know the interesting facts about the Paris Olympics, you will be able to enjoy the event even more.
