Uncovering the Healing Place for CSIA People: Cafeteria

Updated: Mar 31

For CSIA students, who struggle with school life, the CSIA cafeteria will be a 'Healing Place' for them. CSIA people, including students and even teachers, would have thought, 'What is today's lunch?'. As we eat the school meal every day during the semester, we need to know the beginning and end of the school meal: how the school meal is made.

To find out our lifeline, I asked a nutritionist who runs the Instagram meal account (@deli_csia_s) about our meal.

First, a meal table is focused on the amount of energy that students need.

Nutritionists usually plan the meal table two weeks to a month in advance. Generally there are at least 19 meals and at most 35 meals in a week; they are superheroes of Cheongshim.

Furthermore, what about nutrition? Many students consider whether the meal has enough nutrition because CSIA's meal is considered the 'best'.

According to CSIA nutritionists, they decide the meal table by using the meal system program that gives information about energy (kcal), carbohydrates, proteins, fats, calcium, sodium, etc. So unless a student is not a picky eater, she or he can have enough nutrition.

Next is about the new menu, which is the hottest issue among students.

We can see the sketchbook in the cafeteria, where we can write our assessment about the daily meal. As we can also write a specific menu we want, such as Tanghulu and Maratang, nutritionists check the book and consider if those would be appropriate for school meals.  For instance, Malatang became a new menu item, but Tanghulu couldn't be the one.

Then, they devise a recipe for the proper ones.

Lastly, “We nutritionists feel very encouraged and rewarded when students greet us with a bright face and show gratitude, such as ‘I enjoyed the meal’ and ‘Thank you.’ And seeing them having balanced meals without leaving any leftovers is a great help to nutritionists.” said the nutritionist.

All the workers in the CSIA cafeteria try hard to provide as good a meal as possible for us. We should be thankful to them, even if we can get used to it.

It would indeed be nice to say some thank-you messages to them!

Why don't you express your gratitude to them?
