“Ugh…” The sound of sighing and yawning fills the room. From the sounds around us, we get some kind of reassurance that we are not the only ones to doze off and find the never-ending self-study to be tedious. It’s no wonder why the weather seems so nice and the time flows so slowly. It's National Assembly Election Day, and we are to stay at school and study. So, how does it feel like to see your friends posting pictures taken by the cherry blossom when we are stuck at school? There were 3 main types of students to answer the question.
-“Why is Cheongshim unlike other schools”
National Assembly Election Day is a national holiday, which usually is a precious day for students to enjoy the sweet taste of sleeping in until possibly the afternoon. However, this was no longer the case for Cheongshimin. Some students have said that the school was too oppressive to keep students from having any rest on a national holiday. The schedule too, was very tiring for the students as some study sessions lasted for about 2 hours straight. One student shared that going out to look around Gapyeong with her parents was really fun and allowing students to freely hang out outside of school would have been better than being so high-handed.
-“Even better”
Quite different from the first perspective, some students have said that staying at school and having enough time to study was just what they needed. They said that they were very satisfied to actually be given enough time to get things done. Most of the time, they didn’t have much time to finish their homework from academies because of our busy school schedule which takes up most of the time in a day.
One student has even said that although she was worried that she wouldn’t be fully informed about the election, the time was given enough to see the news and search for information about the election.
-“Had a low study efficiency”
Another important opinion to consider was that the schedule set out by the school is not necessarily fit for some students. A student regarded themself as a night owl and said that they weren't able to focus on most of the study sessions. Many students have stated that the study sessions were too long and that in effect resulted in the loss of focus.
This year’s National Assembly Election Day was unfortunately stuck in the middle of the school week but it is important that opinions vary. How about you? Did you like it or not?
