Through the centuries, the world has changed time and time again. Step out of your house, and the first thing you’ll notice is the bustle—busy roads full of cars, crowds of people from various countries, and towering buildings. These scenes are familiar to us because we've been living in a rapidly developing world for many years. But if people from the past saw this, it would be nearly unimaginable to them. Back then, many died due to hunger or diseases that are now curable, women and Black people faced societal discrimination, and global communication was a real challenge. Yet, as the world has progressed, our lives have become far more convenient than they used to be. Here’s a look at three ways modern life is better than it was in the past: technology has made our lives easier, international interactions have expanded, and there is more freedom and equality in today’s society.

First, advances in technology have transformed daily life, making it more comfortable and convenient. The development of AI and digital devices has become integral to our routines, impacting everything from work to leisure. For instance, medical technology has boosted average life expectancy, while infrastructure improvements like expanded roadways have made travel faster. Online activities like shopping and food delivery are now commonplace, making our lives easier. In contrast, people in the past often had to face lifespans of only 40 years and spend weeks on journeys that today would only take hours. Technological advancement has made a difference.

Secondly, international activities have expanded tremendously in the modern era. While global interactions did exist in the past, they have become far easier and faster in today’s world. Now, we can buy items from across the world with just a click, connect with people in other countries via countless apps, and engage in international exchanges that help foster better political relationships. The world is more connected than ever.

Lastly, modern life provides greater freedom and equality. Historically, women and Black people were denied the basic rights we recognize today. They faced discrimination, were often marginalized, and were treated unfairly compared to men. Now, however, there’s been substantial progress: people continue to advocate for equal rights, challenging unjust systems. Although some issues still need improvement, our society is evolving toward a more inclusive and equal future.

Of course, there are new challenges that didn’t exist in the past, like pollution and economic and political issues. But despite these hurdles, modern life gives us a solid foundation to create an even better world. With technology, international connectivity, and increased freedom, there’s a lot to be grateful for in today’s world.
